Upcycle Michigan Furniture Refinishing was established in 2022 after I took a leap of faith and left my corporate dietitian job in 2021. I have always had a passion for the midcentury modern era, and after moving into my first home, I needed furniture. 

I have always loved thrifting, naturally I started my furniture journey shopping at local thrift stores, Facebook Marketplace, estate sales, and even my grandparents' homes to furnish my first abode. I am always up for a good deal, even if an item is extremely beaten down. 

With the ability to see a furniture design through, I know it is one worth pursuing. It was because of this mindset and with perseverance, I opened up a furniture refinishing business.

In my eyes, furniture should be an investment. I believe you should take your time finding the right piece for your space. Furniture should be a heirloom that you can pass down and a piece of art you can tell stories about. 

I take my time with each furniture item that I refinish. I strip, sand down, and refinish dressers and other wooden heirlooms carefully because I believe in the value it holds. Every item I sell is refinished by hand and with high quality materials to help the piece stand the test of time. 

Connecting with people is deeply rooted in me- it is why I originally chose the career path of being a dietitian. My passion transformed from connecting with people through health and nutrition to connecting with people through quality furniture oddly enough. I know I have found my people when we can geek out about really funky woodgrains.
